It is the strategy of Bonitas to partner with healthcare professionals to ultimately empower our members to access affordable and quality health care. More than 90% of our members already access the Bonitas general practitioner (GP) network.
On a continuing basis Bonitas will engage with GP and specialist network partners to implement initiatives that will ultimately result in further empowering all members to access affordable and quality healthcare. The Bonitas Specialist Network will be implemented from 1 September 2012.
Members on the Standard, Primary, BonSave and BonEssential options now have a choice of choosing a Bonitas specialist network partner.
Participating network Specialists have agreed to render their services at a negotiated rate. This means that the specialist network partner will bill Bonitas members at an agreed rate. The immediate benefit to your members is that there will be no additional co-payments or levies due.
This will include all services rendered for both in and out of hospital.
Once a members benefits are depleted and their condition is one of the legislated prescribed minimum benefit conditions (PMB’s), members can be assured that their condition will be covered in full with no co-payments or additional levies if they consult a Bonitas specialist network partner.
If a Specialist of choice is not contracted to the Bonitas Specialist Network, Bonitas will reimburse all claims up to the Bonitas Scheme tariff. This will result in the member being liable for any shortfalls and co payments direct with the Specialist.
The following disciplines of Specialists are currently being contracted onto the network:
